ADRA : Adventist Development Relief Agency
Where there is a need, ADRA is there
Dr Hyun Bang’s first-hand experience with ADRA was when she went abroad to Sri Lanka a little after the Tsunami. Her dental student team from Loma Linda University, experienced in mission work in underdeveloped countries, was deployed as ADRA NGO’s to help establish the dental relief program for the victims who were housed in tents.
Prior to this, during Dr’s undergrad years at La Sierra University, she went on a trip to Peru following the footsteps of the SDA Missionaries, the Stahls. The Adventist missionaries taught the peasant class how to read and write, and educated them on how to start their own business. Through this work spreading the love of God, the Stahls eventually became governors. Of course many of the missionaries who did not survive experienced some cruel persecution in the beginning. With Dr. Charles Teel leading this trip, Dr learned that it is the SDA and the Biblical way to teach people how to become independent in our mission and relief work, so that when we finally leave, they can stand on their own two feet. Dr. Teel was invited by the First Lady of Peru at the time as she was highly interested in the work of the Stahls and how they brought the peasant class to become a working class of people with education. Dr Teel has since passed and is resting in Christ.
For obvious reasons, Dr Hyun Bang is a consistent supporter of this wonderful non-profit and their mission.
Compassion International
The dollar goes far, feed the children
Dr Bang is always careful to select which non-profits to support. Compassion visited Dr’s undergrad, La Sierra University, a Christian University, and since then, Dr has been a continuous supported of children who are signed up with Compassion. In various continents, Dr has Compassion-children.

This small quaint church group has the heart of service. Dr Hyun Bang’s very first visit to this church was so lovely she began to send her support there. Soon the church was able to fix some long-standing maintenance issues. With faithful leadership, the church has been serving the community with health education, recently held a several month long mental health awareness conference!
